Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
